Ivan Capillas was born in 1.973 in Sabadell. He began studying music theory and piano at the age of 5. At the age of 7 he wrote his first piece of music, and he debuted as a pianist in the Orfeón de Sabadell Choir when he was 16. Afterwards, he qualified as a piano teacher and got his High Degree in composition, orchestration, harmony and music theory, receiving the Honour Prize of the Conservatory in these specialities. Later he studied conducting at the Conservatorio Superior del Liceo de Barcelona with Antoni Ros Marbà and Manel Valdivieso, also attending several technical and advanced courses and getting advice from masters like Jordi Mora, Ernest Martínez Izquierdo, Arturo Tamayo, Jesús López Cobos, Bruno Aprea and Octav Calleya. As a film composer, he studied and received advise from composers as Patrick Doyle, Stephen Warbeck, Ben Newhouse, Pascal Gaigne, Antonio Melibeo, Eduardo Armenteros, José Miguel Martínez, Roque Baños, and has been nominated and awarded in several national and international film festivals. Nowadays he works in different productions, either national and international.
